First winter, first snow

The day after Thanksgiving brought the first real snow of our first real winter in Cadillac, Michigan.

A pair of Cardinals bring a spash of color to the bird feeder on the post-Thanksgiving Day snow in Cadillac.

It’s so pretty when one can admire it from the warmth of a cozy home. All we need is a crackling fire, but no fireplace here.

It’s also nice that we don’t have to get out in it unless we really want/need to do so, and we have plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers to get by until early next week. We didn’t even have to make a panic run to the store.

The little R-Pod 171 is tucked away for its long winter nap in Cadillac, MI.

One curious thing about this snow is how light and fluffy it is. The wind is knocking some big clumps out of the pine trees on the bank of the River Clam, and the mostly just drift down, not much faster than the smaller individual flakes. Interesting. Vicki and I both grew up with soggy snow down south.

So far, the winter here is lovely, even if cold. We will see if that holds true in another three months!

Glad I put the windshield snow cover on last night, although it’s dry and cold enough the snow should brush right off.
