Photo stops: Rest areas and rocks

Thursday was a travel day for us. Nothing fancy for an extended post, but at least the frequency of posting is improving.

We stopped about every 45 minutes to take time to stretch and get in some steps. (Vicki’s FitBit demands 250 steps every hour; my Apple Watch is a bit more laid-back — all I have to do is stand up for a minute. I got this!)

The rest areas along I-57 in Illinois were spaced perfectly, at least for us when pulling the trailer. The Main Line Station is south of Kankakee, and Vicki and I were both taken with the beauty of the flower beds, front and back. Tall phlox, black-eyed susans, one of the Kalanchoes (we think) and cockscomb made this one pop. The back flower bed had more flowers as well as some healthy tomato plants and peppers. We rested here longer than we would have done otherwise. Thanks, unnamed garden club, for making this so pretty.

In Illinois, the rest areas are spaced as if they planned it just for us. And at one of the rest areas, Main Line Station south of Kankakee, we took a longer break to admire the flower gardens maintained, I’m sure, by volunteers. Nice work, folks,

Before breaking camp at the Bo Woods Corps of Engineers park near Sullivan, Illinois, we picked up a rock someone had left in our site.

There is a thing out on facebook called RVingRocks. People take rocks (not from the parks, I should hope) and paint funny faces and messages on one side and a link to the site on the back. Cute idea, and one that shouldn’t break many rules, I hope. We took the creator of this one up on the invitation to carry it along with us.

There is a Facebook group called RvingRocks in which people create painted rocks and leave them in public places for others to find. Cute idea, or at least one that brought a smile to our faces.

For some reason I don’t think clicking on the link in the photo will take you to facebook. It might.

I have a good internet connection this week, so I’m hoping for more posts.

Enjoy!
